Christmas QOTD, courtesy of my father

Singing along to:

"We should save the meat pies for after Midnight Mass. We can recreate the magical Christmases of my childhood. Except you'll all have to start smoking and talking in French."

***

And yes, we are going to Midnight Mass--for me, it will be the first time ever. I'm so excited. Our old parish did Midnight Masses for Christmas, and my dad went every year, but I was too young to stay up that late. Then we moved, right around the time that I was old enough to go, and of course our new parish didn't have Midnight Mass (just 10:30 pm on Christmas Eve--so not the same thing). But now we have a new pastor and a new Christmas Mass schedule and I will be going to Midnight Mass for the first time in twenty years. Hurrah!

(Also, my church is offering a midnight Mass on New Year's Eve, which I think is just weird. Yes, January 1 (the Solemnity of Mary) is a Holy Day of Obligation, but I can't really picture anyone going to midnight Mass on New Year's Eve. Either they'll be out partying, or they'll be asleep already.)
